What is Delta-8 THC?
Delta-8 THC is a cannabinoid that is very similar to Delta-9 THC (marijuana). Unlike Delta-9 THC, Delta-8 THC is found in significantly smaller quantities within the cannabis plant. Instead of extracting it from extremely large numbers of plants, Delta-8 THC is typically derived by putting other cannabinoids (like CBD) through a natural process called isomerization, which creates higher amounts of Delta-8 THC as a biproduct. Delta-8 THC is often described as being a gentler version of Delta-9 THC because it offers many of the effects of marijuana. However, it doesn’t feel as strong or overpowering as Delta-9 THC can be.
Is Delta-8 THC Legal in California
Federally, Delta-8 THC products were legalized by the 2018 Farm Bill. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized cannabinoids that could be derived from hemp plants. However, not all states have approved Delta-8 TCHC for sale. Currently, it’s banned in 15 states, but California isn’t one of them. Delta-8 THC is legal under the California Industrial Hemp Law Division 24, Title 3, Division 4, Chapter 8. Currently, there is a potential risk that Delta-8 THC will not remain legal, so make sure you’re doing your part to stay educated about any upcoming votes and taking steps to support Delta-8 THC sales in California.
What Delta-8 THC Products Are Available in California?
There are three main ways to purchase Delta-8 THC in California: vape distillates, gummies, and tinctures. Vape distillates have some of the fastest absorption rates for Delta-8, so they are often preferred to other products. The effects of delta 8 gummies may take a little longer to kick in, but they’re easy to consume and often quite delicious, making this a favorite delivery method. Tinctures combine the best of both worlds. They deliver Delta-8 THC through a fast-absorbing oil placed under the tongue. They offer the fast absorption of a vape distillate with the easy to consume delivery of a gummy.
